| HISTORY OF THE SOCIETY | ||
| The
Windsor Society was formed towards the end of 1991 by Bob Jordan and Phil
Bailey, both in Edinburgh House during the 1960's. By April 1992 they
were in contact with more than seventy past pupils, by December membership
had passed 350.
During that year, Ed Stewart put out a message on behalf of the Society in the "Where are they now" section of his Radio 2 programme on BBC national radio. The response was the biggest the programme ever had. The Windsor Society held its first reunion on 19 June 1993. It was anticipated 600 members would attend, 725 out of a total of 820 turned up.Two years later we held another with over 650 members attending. |

Since
then we've visited the Windsor Schools at Hamm, and organised a series
of reunions for those members from the 50's, 60's and 70's.
At the end of 1998, total membership stood at 1,500 and the Windsor Society has branches in Australasia, Canada and the USA in addition to the UK. The Windsor Society publishes a twice-a-year newsletter, full membership lists and a thirty-six page magazine which are distributed free to all members. Membership is open to all former pupils and staff (teaching and non-teaching) of Windsor School, Windsor Boys School and Windsor Girls School, Hamm, Germany between 1953 and 1983 and costs just £7.00 a year (plus £5.00 joining fee). |
