Hi there, Kim Taylor!
Your sister, Jenny, was in my dorm at Windsor -in fact, there's a picture
on my website which includes her. To be honest, I didn't know a lot
of boys at that time, I was very shy, and had no brothers - obviously
a drawback! I suppose Prof might have been Prof Sheard? Best wishes

she, down the fence, over the fence, in trouble with Miss Roberts! and
matron, am I mistaken - weren't you her partner in crime!!! or was she
leading you astray..... you will have to put me right at Blackpool.
Bye for now.

Hi to all that may
remember the day boys. Just a few more names to"bandy" about:
the Gardner family, the Kitchens, Dave `Rhodie` Kinsey, the Hepburns,
Dave Ormerod, Andy Summers, where are you all? I have had contact with
John `Hammy` Hamlet, we were in Catterick together inthe Army. Does
anyone know where on earth the following teachers are:Mr Martin(laguage),
Geoffrey Oliver Moore, Mr Newton (Middlesboro fan!), and are any of
them intending to be in Blackpool? So many names keep popping up that
I remember but there are also some that wemay all take for granted that
would be associated with anything WBS/WGS forever. Some more names just
came to me: Marcus Ball, Stoney,Paul Boon,(all Sandringham), Mr Wheeler(AJ),
Mr Heap, Pop Farrar wow - this is starting to get scary, I may have
to lay down a while! Can anyone throw any light on the names? Bye for
now, KGM.

I would still fly into Manchester as I have to sort out whether I can
go yet. We have something on that W.E. and I am trying to rearrange
it. I have been reading back some of the older messages and I see a
couple from Greg Oxford, we need a few more of the Americans at the
reunion.
Scott Innes - Thank
You - you are quite right it was Sue West. She married Patch - David
- if I remember rightly. They lived in Carlisle and I heard from them
for awhile, but sadly lost touch. Yes he was great friends with Shane.
Does anyone hear from the Barnes brothers - Shane and Neil?
Denise Fletcher
- Thank You for the offer. Good to hear from you. I have something on
that w.e. which I am trying to sort out at the moment, I am sure they
can manage without me for once! I will let you know.

I have had my confirmation
from the Norbreck Castle, albeit after a slight bit of confusion over
the number of nights I had requested. I have been looking into going
by train from the south of England, as I will save me worrying about
the drive after a weekend of imbibing a few beers or two! Unfortunately
National Rail http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/
can only
offer details upto 12 weeks in advance. So can't find out until next
week what the offers may be. Wonder if anybody else will be going via
train on the friday back sunday from south of England? might be able
to meet up on the train before
we even get to Blackpool.

Hallo everyone.
this is my first attempt at emailing this site. My sister Kim and i
were in Hills Hse for a couple of years. My memory of that time is supposed
to be better according to my sister I think she just wants to forget
she was ever on report!!!. I shared a dorm with Debbie Johnson, and a
girl who was rather keen on Liverpool football club. I used to travel
to school with Yvone Lumby and Rosemary Door and Penny Smith on the
same train from Berlin. I remember Denise getting a tree trunk in her
shoes from matron one year! and not many sweets. Does anyone remember
the production "Dracular spectacular"?? My sister and i hope
to be in Blackpool this year so if anyone remembers us it would be nice.
If not it will be great just sharing and remembering. Regards

I would like to
get a message to Debbie Hughes as I am no longer a member of Friends
Reunited and unable to reply to her email. Debbie if you are reading
this - yes I still live in Salisbury and yes I would love to meet but
don't have any contact details to get in touch. If anyone can help I
would be pleased to hear from them. Chris O'Toole - no I am not going
to reunion as still have hang-over from last one. I have just got off
the phone from Denise Fletcher and she says you are going - have fun
and remember I won't be there to share a bottle of wine with you so
don't drink it all yourself too fast ha ha. Just a thought - ask Denise
to share a glass of sherry with you... she will tell you the significance
of that at the reunion. Regards
Carol Gibson (H73-77)
|
18 Apr 2007
Hello Carol, Thanks
for the memory of the Sherry, but as you know, I no longer drink....And
the memory of the Sherry is still with me, as a reminder to why! But
it was fun, while we were both sharing it...lolI think you should reconsider
coming to the reunion, as lots of people want to see you... Carol Ambridge,
Jane Keith, Christ Ostthey are coming and we are all travelling together,
so why don't you join us? It will be lots of fun, and we can hear about
things that I am sure even you have forgotten about.... Time for you
to get over your hangover from the last one, and make a fresh hangover,
I am sure Chris O'toole will agree... And besides you can share a bottle
of wine or three or four with everyone! So come on friend, lets get
our tickets and book the hotel... And have a laugh...To everyone else,
hello and see you in Blackpool!!!!

Message for Kingiy,
saw your note on the site and brought back memories of the old days.
great to see you are still alive and well, fond memories of you admiring
my silky skills and lightning pace on the football pitch, and also thrashing
you in athletics. Will be going to the reunion with Mike Ore and we
look forward to you getting the round in as we are going to take five
pounds each that our wifes have given us, we are determined to spend
it all and get very merry indeed. Good to see you are well mate, drop
me a line sometime, i will tell Mike as well as he has'nt got any friends.
See you in Blackpool!

Hello Carol Gibson
- I trawled through old paper work last night to get an e-mail address
you gave me and wrote to you only to have it bounce back! As a result
I am going to have to do the old head of house thing and shout about
you not coming to the reunion! Denise has already said she is going
and I need someone to go with. Please reconsider and I will make sure
you are a good girl while there! Since posting a few messages I have
been into the attic to get my old Ambassador magazines and photos outto
get the old brain working. I knew the JOHNSTON twins rang a bell and
there you were in the attic! I remember you in the big dorm with about
10 beds in, I might have beeen head of house then. When I initially
went to Hamm I shared a dorm with Janice Tracey, other girls from Hillsborough
were Matti Matthews, Kathy Baxter,Debbie Goulden and may more. Other
names were Karen Smith, Yvonne Watts, Jayne Rowlatt, Sue West, Sue Carlisle,
Suzanne Gower,Lyn Harries etc, I have a photo here of Debbie Goulden
and David Whiston and ANGIE DUNMAll - I am sure it is you, wheren't
you friendly with Debbie? Jayne Rowlatt and I were at Laarbruch together.
Boys I remember were Ian Hyland, John Henderson, Chris Bowyer, John
Redfearn, Keith Shipton (sister Kerry), Neil Carrick, Shane and Neil
Barnes, Bobby Hoffman (hello again Bobby) Greg Oxford (sister Beth I
believe)AND MANY MORE! I have photos here and I cannot put names to
all of them. I need many more 1970's people at the reunion to have a
look at them and tell who they are.

I know. Was in Sandringham with Shippo, same dorm and knew Dave 'Dirtbox'

Williams, Andy Moore, Nick Lowe and the other one, Jane Treeves, Julie
Grieves, Bob Smith, Dave and Linda Dawney, Steve Legg, Dicky Bird, Rose
Passfield, Dave Halsall, Phil Morris, Heinz Winterbottom, Janine Groundsall,
Geraldine Gammon, Keogh brothers, Duncan McTavish, Kev Jones, (Michelle),
the Columbian looking beauty with the long curly black hair and Uncle
Tom Cobbley and all. All early to mid 70's. Except Tom.Ring any bells?

however names I do recognise but can't put faces to are Steve Legg,

Lorry, hi again.
I was at Laarbruch from '71 to'74 so probably did know you. Where did
you live? Looks like I wont be going to the reunion as Ive just purchased
a property overseas and can barely afford beans on toast at the moment,
never mind a weekend away. Pity. I'll bet we know quite a few people
if we put our heads together. Got a memory like an elephant, me.................

23 Apr 2007
To Ian Lister (H69-71),from
Greeny.No. It's not me. Or at least I think it is not the me who you
thought maybe I am. Though I am Greeny, it is not the Greeny you thought.
In simple English I think you remember my Brother who also resided on
the second floor. By some strange mysterious quirk of nature there were
a number of Greenies in Hillsborough-one at least was my brother. I
never made it to the second floor but as I said in the first message
to you, information had a habit of percolating down so I remember your
name, as well as Semple and others. My brother was a prefect and was
possible in the year above you where as I was in the third year in 1972
when my brother was a 5th year. You were probably also a 5th year. If
you were a 4th you would remember another Greenie-Sean. Were Ponting,
Morrison, Bennet, or Bates known to you, I shared a dorm with them before
I left in '72'? What else did I hear exactly?I remember standing in
the queue out side of “The Hayden Jones Bank” awaiting my
turn for some pocket money when the double doors were pushed open to
reveal the Local/national Polizie requiring the attention of some one
in charge due to the fact some residents of Hillsborough had been apprehended
whilst out of school grounds with a loaded machine gun. Or was it a
double barrelled shot gun which they just happened to be out of school
grounds with. (Before I exaggerate too much-if my memory serves me well
I remember the reality was an air rifle). It was not everyday that the
Armed Polizie stood by the tuck cabinet in the evening. Well there they
were two green jacketed Polizie dudes strapped up with their regulation
belts and side arms escorting some one in who should ordinarily not
have been spatzehering about after dark with a loaded rifle. Of course,
it was not one of the young dudes from the ground floor. It was some
one from the 4th year, I think. It takes quiet some imagination to work
out that it was only an air rifle. It made the mind boggle to think
that some one on the landing above had been keeping a loaded rifle somewhere.
May be it was just on temporary loan form the MT block. There is loads
I remember from those fun packed years. Do you remember Rocket and Whitehead?
They were the best runners I ever saw. To see them on the athletics
track was a joy to behold. What year were you in when you joined in
69? I was a first year in 69. Good to see your message and I am sure
there are other stories from the past that we both remember.

Hi to Chris Duxbury.
Slight error in my last post. I was actually in Edinburgh House, whoops
- near enough, the same building! Gwen and I will look out for you and
we can have a drink and a blether. Looking forward to it. Will you be
coming on your own? Gwen actually would've been at Windsor at round
about the same time as you but we were posted back to the UK in December
76 so she had to stay on at Rhein Middle School in Laarbruch for a term
instead.
