Hello everybody.
Was on a plane last month and we flew over Hamm which prompted me to
search for WBS and here you are! After WBS I graduated University of
London and did a 4 year postdoc at MCV in Richmond, VA. That's where
I bumped into Jean McTyier as well as Glenn, Karl and Anne Holliday.
It was the closest I ever had to a high school reunion. After VA I was
with Abbott in Chicago for a couple years before getting into the biotech
industry here in San Francisco, CA. So, is there a US club?

John (Doherty),
I`m afraid that my German trip planned for December will not be taking
place. I have been offered a job in Newcastle upon Tyne which is too
good to turn down so my focus at present is preparing myself for the
big wide world of civvy street after 23 years in an Infantry Battalion
and various E posts. I will try and come across in 2008 sometime which
will be dependant on work load. Have a merry Christmas mate and a prosperous
New Year,if you go back to Manchester for the festive season please
say hello to the rest of the family for me. All the very best

Thanks for the message,
Alison - it's this time of year I think back to the Paulikirche and
the carol service, what a great treat it was to be in the Chapel Choir
and have choir practice with the boys ;-) One of my favourites, sung
by the boys, "standing in the rain, looking through the window"
- do you remember it? Saw a group of school children out on a trip in
town today in York city centre, that brought memories of us walking
into Hamm to spend our pocket money on Christmas gifts and sweets. Best
wishes

Hi Glyn Johnson.
As I remember we were in the same dorm from 65-68. I am also at the
other end of the world having been in South Africa since 1974 and now
living in Cape Town. Was once "recognised" by an ex-WBS student
in Cape Town for being a member of the Bash Street's band - what a legacy!
Other than that have had no contact with anyone from WBS since 1971
when I last saw Dave Templeton who was then living in Lincolnshire.

I would like to
wish Christine Lancaster, Maz and Angie Barnard. Julie Tibbs, Kim Fletcher,
Debbie Rymer, Sue and Andy Youngs (hope you have a great time in Indonesia)
Steph and Sharon Southall, Kelly Roberts (hope all goes well for your
daughter when the new baby arrives), Dave Edmondson, Paul Falcus (you
owe me an email) and everyone else I know but have forgotten to mention
a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I’m off to Thailand on
28th Dec for a month so I will be thinking of you all back here in the
freezing cold when I’m lying on a nice hot sandy beach. My hubby
and I are moving in March or April 2008, we have bought a Wooden Lodge
at the edge of a lake on the West coast just outside a village called
Knott End-on-Sea, its about 30 mins from Blackpool, it’s like
going back in time, you don’t get any mouthy kids and you don’t
have to lock your doors and windows when you go out, it’s great
and I can’t wait. My two sons are working in Aldershot so they
are staying down here, so it will be just Kev and myself and our 8-month-old
Cocker Spaniel that my hubby bought me in July (bliss). Well must go,
packing to do. Hope to see you all at the next reunion in 2010.

Merry Christmas
and a Happy New Year to one and all. May all your problems be little
ones in 2008. I daren't start mentioning names as I know I will forget
someone and then feel terrible, but you all know who you are. I'm looking
forward to being a grandma for the first time in about 3 weeks if all
goes to plan. Tony Metcalfe, you left a "buzz" on Friends
Reunited but I'm not a fully paid up member so can't reply. If you go
to the about page on this site you can email me - would be great to
catch up.

Merry Christmas
and a Happy and Healthy New Year to all, especially the 'originals'
from the 1950's. In July this year, after 50 years, I met Spencer Lawson
(Hillsborough) and gave him details of this site. Maybe we'll hear from
him soon. I'll have to give him a reminder.
