I remember you from
Marlborough 60's crew , I was one of the four "Benny's" younger
brother to Ralph Bennett. You are right about the fond memories , compusory
Chapel , I ended up in the choir , cos I liked the purple robe you got
to wear , it really suited me (Hmmmm). Are you still in contact with
any old Marlborough House Boys from that era . I have lost touch with
everyone from those days. Would like to contact a couple of me old mates..

Hi Mike Downey ....I
just looked at my last msg. & realised I did not address it to anybody
...lol !!! It was a response to your msg.!! My memories of W.B.S. are
a little vauge now , but my memory at the mo is absolutely rubbish......forgive
the lapse plz. Now what was I saying.

James Bennett....of
course I remember you too! I was one of the prefects that turned your
lights off at 9 and then kicked you out of bed for roll call at 7! At
one time I was able to recite the roll call of names but alas it's now
slipped my memory. I seem to remember only two Bennett's though! Other
names I remember include Phil Stafford, Dirk Matthews and perhaps you
may remember my brother Robert (2 years younger than me). He was in
the CCF which I believe you were too! Pass on my best wishes to your
brother, Ralph!

Like Pam, hope you are all well and love to hear from any of you. We're
gearing up for a bit of a reunion ourselves, down here in Oz.

Would like to hear
from old friends from WBS/WGS. Thanks
Bailey Mundy (M66-71)
|
6 June 2009
Hello & welcome
to Bailey Mundy... Is that THE Bailey Hamilton Mundy 111 (the third...)
A name for some reason that has stuck in a dusty corner of my brain
for all this time.. A citizen of the US or Canada as I recall? If it
is you and not some other Mundy we certainly knew each other and am
reasonably sure you were a contemporary of mine (same classes etc) I
was tall, ginger hair, gangly and probably a twat... ring any bells?
Anyway leaping slightly sideways.. I notice that a get together for
the 70's crew is happening in York soon.. When I left WBS in '68 my
father was posted to Rawcliffe about 1 mile from your hotel in Poppleton.
Because I had been doing ok when I left WBS I got put into the local
Grammar school where I mixed with the offspring of the executives of
Rowntree's and Terry's the local chocolate factories and for some reason
they all seemed to live in Upper and Nether Poppelton and as I recall
were referred to as 'The chocolate Knobs' It didn't take long for the
Grammar School to realise I was about 2 years and 5 subjects behind
them so they booted me out to the local Secondary Modern school which
supplied the manual workers for the chocolate factories... Anyway I
had a splendid year or so in York and do get into town for a look around
if you can.. some very pretty streets around the Minster.. Rather like
Canterbury for those of us who live below the Mason-Dixon Line. Regards

Always interesting
to read these messages and spot names from a past era! Not sure if many
or any people remember me but people tend to remember my face rather
than my name. Still...Bill will remember me as we were in the same dorm
(14 I think) for a year Out of curiosity, I wondered how many people
live in Essex or close by? I mailed this a couple of years back....but
I have a small collection of original photos (Caernarvon House) that
I can mail to anyone who wants a copy. Or...if someone knows how, they
can be posted on this site. Cheers everyone....
Tony Jobber (C62-67)
Yes
Tony of course I do, wonder what happened to the rest of the dorm...
As to the pics, I am working on a project to increase the facilities
of this site - watch this space...... BillC

15 June 2009
Hello everyone,
well I arrived at York at 13.00 hrs and had lunch until booking in at
14.00. When I enquired about the reuinion the receptionist was vague
and said "Oh the boys are in town and the girls have gone shopping."
We hung around the bar looking lost with no Signage for the reunion
until we decided to go to the Pub that the receptionist mentioned. When
I said to the receptionist I thought taxi's were booked to take us to
Flares at 20.00 hrs, she looked up and said "computer says no".
We arrived at the Pub and were greeted by a disembarkation party from
HMS York, - nice polite bunch of Mariners yet no signs or any hint of
Windsor Society. In the end we trawled around York and found some nice
pubs. Flares was not my cup of tea having walked up to the outside to
be met by York's youth throwing up so we walked away. I hope to attend
a future Windsor reunion, can't say the missus was that impressed.

15 June 2009
Steve P, I'm sorry
you got all the way to York and then didn't get to meet with anyone
and that your experience wasn't too good. Thing is, it was really an
informal reunion organised off the cuff, hence no signage, hotel staff
not up too speed and on and on... I know Flares doesn't look like much
from the outside (if truth be told it's not 5 star on the inside), but
those of us in there had a great time and I hope that you have a better
experience at the next reunion, be it a Society organised one or otherwise.
Kelly Roberts (E71-81)
|
15 June 2009
Really sorry to
hear that Steve! We were in the bar at the hotel, and the taxi's did
leave at 7.30 onwards to Flares, Yes HMS York were in town. Apolgies
if you encountered a bad expereince, certainly wasn't the Windsor crew!
Hope this hasn't put you off? and hope you make the next reunion!
Julie Roberts (E77-81)

16 June 2009
Thanks to everyone
at the reunion, it takes a lot off effort in arranging a night out.
enjoyed flares the hats and ties were good fun good job some one remembered
how to do a real windsor knot. My sister and i had a fab time, it was
our first reunion we did not know anyone who was going to be there however,
everyone was really friendly and made us feel welcome.
Kim Nixon (H76-78)

18 June 2009
Hi Steve, also sorry
you "missed" the York reunion! I got to the hotel at 1230
and found a group of lads in the bar area. I only new 1 guy and 1 girl
from the whole reunion. However, we went to town at about 1pm and returned
at around 7pm. Taxi's picked us up between 7 and 8 and we went to Flares.
With you on the look of the place, and when we first went in (it was
empty!) I thought we were on a looser! However, by 1000pm you couldnt
move, and our own privatly arranged VIP area was a godsend. If you had
of asked at the door you would have been fast tracked by the puking
youth and joined us. Tell your misus it'll be different next time and
I promise it will be. Bill and Doug, any updates on a Newbury style
reunion, possibly 2010...........

If there are people
out here that remember me or my brother Shane, then we would be interested
to know> having looked back over some of the postings I think that
there will be...Ian Mynott, Scott and Denise Innes, Geoff Hearn to name
just a few. Having just come across the site whilst idling on the internat
one day and wondering what had become of my last dorm mate at Windsor
(Scott Innes)> Finding the site did stir some memories and emotions!

James, Shippo, Al Copley, Paddy Hawkins, Ian Mynott, Pete Lambert and

When i awoke this

always remember "off the wall" album, so much apart of school
days and life at Windsor.....even danced to a few tracks in flares nightclub
in York...it just feels so sad...but as the saying goes...his music
will live on and he can rest in eternal peace, god bless him and his
family. On another note...hi to Maz and Kim and yes it was a blinder,
a real good weekend, se we should see you at next one??? ok must dash,
have to sweep garden before hubby gets home, can't really complain its
my only contribution to garden upkeep lol, bye for now Chrisxx

Hello All, it’s been
some time since I have visited the site, apologies to Keith Moralee
as unable to attend the reunion in York, but hope that a great time
was had by all, but hope to attend the next reunion. I still remember
vividly the ‘days of Windsor’, the loud whistling sound
for the roll call in Marlborough whilst Sandringham House had a distinct
bell sound , and carrying of the heavy coco urn down the path , jumping
on the sofa, and acting ‘paddling’ to the theme music of
Hawaii- 5-O, and being late for CCF and Vizos. Lost touch with many
of the friends I made. Best wishes John Hamlet (middle of 3 brothers)
